Usage Note
Incapacitado can describe a legal incapacity (someone declared unfit to manage their affairs by a court) or a physical/temporary inability: incapacitado para trabajar (unfit for work). The noun form is incapacitación. In Spain's legal system, incapacitación judicial was replaced in 2021 by medidas de apoyo, so the term now carries an outdated legal connotation in formal contexts.
Examples
"Quedó incapacitado tras el accidente laboral."
Natural Translation
He was left incapacitated after the workplace accident.
