unproductive

adjective eem-proh-dook-TEE-boh Rare

Also means

inefficient

Usage Note

Improductivo is formed from the prefix im- (not) + productivo (productive). It can describe land that yields no crops (tierra improductiva), labour that yields no output, or time spent without result (horas improductivas). The feminine is improductiva. Its antonym productivo is far more frequent; improductivo tends to appear in formal economic or agricultural discourse rather than casual speech.

Examples

"El terreno resultó ser completamente improductivo."

Natural Translation

The land turned out to be completely unproductive.
