noun ees-toh-RYEH-tah Rare

Also means

short story

Usage Note

Historieta is the standard Spanish term for a comic strip or comic book across Latin America. In Spain, the word tebeo (from the old magazine TBO) is traditionally used for comics, though historieta and cómic are increasingly common. The base word historia means 'story' or 'history', and the diminutive suffix -ieta gives it the sense of a little story. Not to be confused with cuento ('short story', prose).

Examples

"De niño leía historietas todos los domingos."

Natural Translation

As a child he read comic strips every Sunday.
