Also means
injury
Usage Note
Herida refers to a physical wound or injury: una herida profunda (a deep wound). It also works metaphorically: herida emocional (emotional wound). The related verb is herir (to wound), and the past participle herido/herida can be used as a noun meaning 'wounded person'. Do not confuse with lesión, which is more clinical.
Examples
"La herida tardó semanas en curar."
Natural Translation
The wound took weeks to heal.
