Glorioso can describe a historically triumphant event (una victoria gloriosa), a person of great renown, or simply something magnificent. La Gloriosa is a common historical shorthand in Spain for the 1868 revolution. In colloquial use it also carries mild irony — qué glorioso chiste (what a brilliant joke) can be sarcastic.
