Usage Note

Fila means a line or row of people or objects (una fila de sillas, 'a row of chairs') as well as a queue (hacer fila, 'to queue up'). In many Latin American countries hacer fila is the standard term for queuing, while Spain also uses hacer cola. In theatre or cinema, fila refers to a row of seats: fila cinco ('row five').
