estático
static
adjective es-TAH-tee-koh Rare
Origin: From Greek statikós, from histánai (to stand, to cause to stand).
Also means
motionless
Usage Note
Estático describes something that does not move or change — the opposite of dinámico. In physics it refers to static electricity or static equilibrium (carga estática). Colloquially, quedarse estático means to be rooted to the spot in surprise or shock. It should not be confused with extático (ecstatic), which has a different meaning and root.
Examples
"La imagen permaneció estática en la pantalla."
Natural Translation
The image remained static on the screen.
