Usage Note
Ecología refers to the scientific discipline studying relationships between organisms and their environment, as well as the broader environmental movement. An ecologista is an ecologist or environmental activist. Do not confuse with economía (economy) despite the shared eco- prefix, which in both cases derives from the Greek root for 'household/environment.'
