Usage Note
Destructor means causing or capable of causing great destruction. As an adjective it agrees in gender: destructora (f), destructores (m pl), destructoras (f pl). As a noun, el destructor is also the Spanish word for a naval destroyer (warship). The abstract noun is destrucción (f) and the agent noun for a person is el/la destructor/a. It is a false friend with 'constructor' — constructor in Spanish means 'builder,' not 'destroyer.'
Examples
"El incendio tuvo un efecto destructor en el bosque."
Natural Translation
The fire had a destructive effect on the forest.
