Derbi is the Hispanicized spelling of English derby, used in Spanish sports journalism to describe a local rivalry match between two teams from the same city or region. The plural is derbis. It is most common in football contexts (el derbi madrileño for the Real Madrid–Atlético match) but applies to any sport.
