dónde
where
adverb DOHN-deh Less Common
Origin: From Latin de unde, from where.
Usage Note
Dónde (with accent) is the interrogative and exclamatory form — used in direct and indirect questions (¿Dónde estás?, No sé dónde está). Without the accent, donde is the relative adverb ('the place where'). The two are pronounced identically; the accent is purely orthographic to mark interrogative use.
Examples
"¿Dónde están mis llaves?"
Natural Translation
Where are my keys?
