Usage Note
Cutre is a colloquial Spain-Spanish adjective meaning shabby, cheap, or of poor quality — applied to places, things, or behaviour. Un bar cutre is a dingy bar; una excusa cutre is a lame excuse. It does not have a common Latin American equivalent and may not be understood there. It is invariable for gender (un sitio cutre / una fiesta cutre) and forms a colloquial superlative cutrísimo.
Examples
"Cenamos en un restaurante bastante cutre."
Natural Translation
We had dinner in a rather shabby restaurant.
