Also means
string (of an instrument)
Usage Note
Cuerda is a physical rope or cord, and also a string of a musical instrument (cuerda de guitarra = guitar string; instrumentos de cuerda = string instruments). Note that a musical chord is acorde, not cuerda. The idiom tener cuerda means someone has a lot of energy or life left in them; do not confuse with cuadra ('city block').
Examples
"Ataron el paquete con una cuerda resistente."
Natural Translation
They tied the package with a strong rope.
