Usage Note
Cuadrado as an adjective means 'square-shaped' (mesa cuadrada) or, informally, 'square-built, stocky' (hombros cuadrados). As a masculine noun it is the geometric square and the mathematical square (cuatro al cuadrado = dieciséis). Metro cuadrado (m²) is 'square metre'. Do not confuse with plaza or plazuela, which refer to a public square in a town.
