Usage Note
Crío is a colloquial, affectionate Iberian Spanish word for a young child or toddler — equivalent to 'kid' or 'little one'. The feminine is cría. It is informal and warm in tone; in formal or written contexts niño/niña is preferred. Do not confuse with cría meaning an animal's young (offspring), which shares the same form and root.
