politeness

Usage Note

Cortesía encompasses both the quality of being polite and specific polite acts. Las fórmulas de cortesía are the set phrases of polite address (por favor, de nada, con mucho gusto). The expression de cortesía is used attributively in Spanish the way 'complimentary' is used in English: una copia de cortesía (a complimentary copy). Cortesía derives from cortés (polite, courteous), ultimately from corte (royal court).

Examples
