Also means
customer
Usage Note
Cliente functions as a common-gender noun: el cliente for a male client, la cliente (or la clienta) for a female client — both forms are accepted. In commercial contexts it covers both paying customers in a shop and long-term clients of a professional service; Spanish does not enforce a sharp distinction as English sometimes does. The collective clientela refers to a business's customer base as a whole.
Examples
"El cliente siempre tiene razón."
Natural Translation
The customer is always right.
