Origin: From Latin 'census', the Roman register of citizens and their property.

Usage Note

Censo refers to an official count of population (censo de población) or an electoral register (censo electoral). In Spain, being on the censo is required to vote in a given municipality. The verb is censar (to register, to count in a census). Do not confuse with sensación or other 'sens-' words.
