Cardiaco (also spelled cardíaco with a written accent in some style guides) is a medical adjective — paro cardiaco ('cardiac arrest'), cirugía cardiaca ('heart surgery'). As a noun un cardiaco informally means 'a heart patient'. The variant spelling with the accent mark is accepted by the RAE; both forms are in use in print.
