Usage Note

Cámara covers a photo or video camera as well as a legislative chamber (e.g. Cámara de Diputados = 'Chamber of Deputies'). The phrase en cámara lenta means 'in slow motion'. Note the written accent on the first a — without it, camara is not a Spanish word. The plural cámaras follows the regular pattern.

She smiled when she saw the camera.
