Also means
prank
Usage Note
Broma covers both verbal jokes and practical pranks. Gastar una broma means to play a trick on someone; en broma means jokingly (contrast with en serio — seriously). Ni en broma (not even as a joke) is an emphatic refusal. Do not confuse broma with chiste, which is specifically a joke with a punchline; broma is broader and includes situational humour and teasing.
Examples
"Le gastaron una broma en el trabajo."
Natural Translation
They played a prank on him at work.
