bloquear

to block

verb bloh-keh-AHR Less Common

Also means

to obstruct

Usage Note

Bloquear covers physical blocking (bloquearon la carretera), digital blocking (bloqueó mi número), and psychological blocking (me bloqueé en el examen = I blanked in the exam). The reflexive bloquearse for going blank under pressure is very common in everyday speech. Note the spelling: the -qu- before -e preserves the hard 'k' sound, following the standard Spanish orthographic rule.

Examples

"Le bloqueé en todas las redes sociales."

Natural Translation

I blocked him on all social networks.
