biblioteca
library
noun bee-blyoh-TEH-kah Less Common
Origin: Greek 'bibliotheke'
Also means
bookcase
Usage Note
Biblioteca is a classic false friend with English 'library': it means a library (building or collection), NOT a bookshop. A bookshop is librería. The related librería false-friend trap catches many learners going the other way too (librería ≠ 'library'). Biblioteca also means a bookcase or bookshelf at home in everyday usage (la biblioteca del salón).
Examples
"Saco libros de la biblioteca cada semana."
Natural Translation
I borrow books from the library every week.
