arrogancia

arrogance

noun ah-rroh-GAHN-syah Rare

Origin: From Latin arrogantia, from arrogare (to claim for oneself).

Usage Note

Arrogancia denotes an excessive sense of superiority. The adjective is arrogante. The phrase con arrogancia or de manera arrogante is used adverbially: respondió con arrogancia ('he replied arrogantly').

Examples

"Su arrogancia le impide escuchar a los demás."
