apto
suitable
adjective AHP-toh Rare
Origin: From Latin aptus (fitted, suitable).
Also means
capable
Usage Note
Apto means fit or suitable for a purpose: apto para el consumo (fit for consumption), no apto para menores (not suitable for minors, the Spanish film rating phrase). Its opposite is inepto (inept). In film ratings apto para todos los públicos is the equivalent of a general-audience certificate. Do not confuse with hábil (skilled) or capaz (capable), which emphasise ability over suitability.
